In KENTE FOR JOJO, older brother Kwame wakes up early in anticipation of the special day: it is time to select a Kente for his new brother Jojo. The family travels together to the building that Kente are made, but Jojo doesn't just want to select one for his brother; he wants to do something special.
Kente (ken-tei) is an important Ghanaian tradition that dates back several hundred years. It is regularly given at ceremonies and milestones especially as births and marriages and some are heirlooms that are passed down from generation to generation. This story celebrates the special place that Kente holds not only in Ghanaian tradition but now across the world.
